鋭敏な藝術家は時代の闇を客観的に掬い取り、単純化して示してくれる。Turner prize 2010の作品群には、理由なき侵略戦争－イラク戦争への静かな憎悪と批評性が漂ってゐる、と言っておこうか。上は2003年に「自殺」したDavid Christopher KellyについてのDexter Dalwoodの作品。実際は多量の薬物を服用しナイフで手首を切ったが、suicideについてはJapaneseのimageで象徴化されてゐる。つまり。。dark side of the moon. . .David Christopher Kellyがどんな人物か、なぜ月が歪められてゐるか？真意について多くは語るまい。批判者は危険と背中合わせ。藝術とは闇の奥に蠢く顔を嗅ぎ取るものだから。でもこれが我々の生きているLe Mondeなのだ。p.s.この日本画的な様式美は、アッバス・キアロスタミの映画「桜桃の味」で描かれる死生観に通低するやうに思う。

This is the moment of explosin of atomic bomb.Prayng for eternal peace and against for all war.
現代の｢ゲルニカ｣である。井の頭線沿線の方はすでにご存知の通り、月曜の夕刻、原爆炸裂の瞬間を描いた岡本太郎の壁画「明日の神話」が渋谷駅MARK CITY内通路にお目見えした。戦争への怒りと哀しみ、魂の叫びが伝わってくる。1968-69年にメキシコで描かれた後行方不明に。2003年に発見・2006年に修復完了後、渋谷区、大阪市、広島市が誘致を望み、今年の3月渋谷区に決定していた。「岡本太郎の生誕100周年にあたる11月までに開陳を果たしたかった」と岡本太郎記念現代芸術振興財団。

‘Ophelia’reflects Shakespear's knowledge of botany.
ミレイ｢オフィーリア｣はシェークスピアの植物への博識を如実に表現している。植物学の教授がこの絵の前で学生に講義したほど。動物も植物も、ともにいのちを持つ儚い存在。その原型は1本の管。日高先生訳の「ファーブル植物記」は植物学を生物学のアプローチで明瞭に説く。牧野富太郎・植物図鑑の草原に迷う前に読んでおきたい。挿絵も藝術的。「オフィーリア」はきっと人間の脳、旧皮質に凍結された古代の記憶、海馬の外部記憶を呼び戻すから、特別な絵になるのかもしれない。親しいひとを花で弔ってきた記憶。。

安息の谷間「疲れし者の安らぎの場」1858
渚十吾氏もご推薦のBunkamura ミレイ展にやっと行けた。平日でもかなり混雑。しかし秀逸。神童時代から、ハイライトの「Ophelia（オフィーリア）」、銅版画、Funny Picture、晩年のScotland Seriesまで総数75点を、へとへとになりながら堪能する。巨匠はキャンバスの細部まで目をこらす観客には、きちんとプレゼントを用意してくれている。やはり絵画は生き物。実物を観なければ。（08.9.6日経で医師で作家の加賀乙彦氏が「日本人は生と死をもっと真剣に考えるべきだ」と論じているが）ミレイの作品にはどれも「生と死」のテーマが宿っている。London→Amsterdam→Tokyoと渡ってきた貴重な作品群も26日まで。もう1回観に行こう。音声ガイダンスは必須。平日の午前をお薦めします。
上の作品-安息の谷間「疲れし者の安らぎの場」1858-は、心にのこった作品のひとつ。メンデルスゾーンの詩に感応して描かれた。“夕暮れが最後の光を放つとき/金色の雲の丘が立ち上る/己がアルプスの山々であると誇示せんばかりに/私は涙ながらに訊く/はたして雲の間に私が切に望む安息の谷間はあるのか”

美しい。貝ではない。放散虫と言うのだそう。海底の土に埋もれたプランクトンのマイクロ化石。「海の日」にちなんだ東大海洋研オープンキャンパスで院生さんから教えてもらう。彼女が研究用に自作した資料が美しく、あきらめきれず図々しく複写を所望するとプレゼントしてくださる。海底で化石化した放散虫の成分（SiO2：二酸化ケイ素/ガラス成分）から海の歴史を解明する学問。すばらしい。がんばってください。

エルンスト・ヘッケル Kunstformen der Natur (1904) の放散虫の骨格は幾何学模様のよう。“20世紀初頭の芸術・建築・デザインに大きな影響を与え、科学と芸術の橋渡しとなった。特に René Binet、Hans Christiansen、カール・ブロスフェルト（Karl Blossfeldt）、そしてエミール・ガレ（Émile Gallé）といったアール・ヌーヴォーに傾倒した多くの芸術家らに多大な影響を及ぼした。”（以上wikipedia）とは奥が深い。ひとの学問はとても刺激的。

節先生。残念ながらセツの卒業生ではないが、心の師の一人である。あるときセツに立ち寄っていて先生に耳たぶを引っ張られたことがある。生徒と間違えられたのだが、その指のあたたかみは忘れられない。本当に自由と藝術と生徒を愛していた。「まぐれは必然」。奥が深い。
